The Way of the Powder Punch is a relatively new monastic tradition, often employed by spies, special agents, vengeance-seekers and other gun-loving brawlers.

Gun Fu[edit]

At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with firearms and you learn to mix your shooting abilities with your supernatural prowess. Being within 5 feet (1,5 meters) from a hostile creature doesn’t impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls made with firearms.

Dedicated Gun[edit]

At 3rd level, you may focus your ki into firearms, by touching them at the end of a long or short rest. This allows you to treat them as bludgeoning monk weapons and use them in melee, using your Martial Arts die to determine their damage and even to use them instead of unarmed strike when performing a Flurry of Blows. Exceptionally, you can focus your ki into two one-handed firearms at the same time and one-handed firearms count as having the light property as melee weapons. If your firearm is enchanted you also apply its enchantements to your melee attack with it.

Powder Punch[edit]

At 3rd level, whenever you successfully hit a Large or smaller creature with a melee attack using your unarmed strikes or melee firearm you can spend 1 ki point to ignite black powder and force the creature to pass a Strength saving throw against your Ki save DC or be pushed 10 feet (3 meters) in a straight line away from you. You may not combine this feature with the Stunning Strike feature. By 6th level you can use this feature at range within 15 feet, even when using the burst fire option. By 11th level this maximum range increases to 30 feet.

Ki-Shelled Bullets[edit]

At 6th level, you add your Wisdom modifier to all damage rolls with your firearms when making ranged attacks and you treat all attacks from your focused firearms as magical for the purpose of bypassing resistance and immunity. By spending 1 ki point, you may use the reload action, even combined with Rapid Reload, to infuse your dedicated firearm with a bullet made out of pure ki, which works as a normal bullet for any purpose, except for the damage, using your Martial Art die to determine damage.

Rapid Reload[edit]

At 6th level, once per round, you can immediately fully reload your dedicated firearm as part of your attack action. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest. When you have no uses available, you can spend 1 ki points to use this feature again.

Flurry of Shots[edit]

At level 11th you can spend 1 extra ki point when using a Flurry of Blows to shoot with your dedicated firearm(s), replacing any number of unarmed strikes with shots.

Ki Fusillade[edit]

At 11th level, you may substitute all your attacks with a single attack action to shoot with your dedicated firearm and produce one of the following effects, at your choice:

  • Boom: When you shoot a target, your bullet explodes around it. Each creature in a 5-foot radius (1,5 meters) from the impact point (including the target) must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC. On a failed save they take damage equal to 3 Martial Arts dice, or half that on a successful one. The original target has disavantadge on this saving throw). The projectiles benefit from the Ki-Shelled Bullets feature and from any special quality they have (such in the case of a magical weapon).
  • Cone: Each creature in a 15-foot cone (4,5 meters) must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC. On a failed save they take damage equal to 3 Martial Arts dice, or half that on a successful one. The projectiles benefit from the Ki-Shelled Bullets feature and from any special quality they have (such in the case of a magical weapon).
  • Line: Each creature in a 30-foot line (9 meters) must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC. On a failed save they take damage equal to 3 Martial Arts dice, or half that on a successful one. The projectiles benefit from the Ki-Shelled Bullets feature and from any special quality they have (such in the case of a magical weapon).

You may spend 1 ki point when using this feature to produce one of these effects as one of all the attacks you perform in the round.

You may not use this feature more than once per round.

You may use Powder Punch in conjunction with this feature, affecting all creatures that suffer damage from it. This istance of Powder Punch isn't limited by its maximum range.

Bullet Hell[edit]

At 17th level, when you use your ki fusillade effects, you may spend 3 ki points instead of 1 to activate any ki fusillade effect on all the shots that you make for this round, choosing which effect to activate on any shot. Beside this, the range of the effects are doubled when using this feature.
