Why though[edit]

But why are you changing all back to an old format when another has been established? --The bluez in the dungeon (talk) 13:08, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Re:Why though[edit]

So I've been hanging arround this wiki since I was a kid. I've never actually made an account (or even played DnD), but I've just kinda followed all the drama here and watched all the Homebrew get made and people came and went and all that.. And i'm just kinda sad, because this place is or was really great and now it's sorta just nothing. the main folk are still just Eiji-kun and Lezaid and a few new people, but everyone else has kinda moved on, and the site is mostly just a standing recordfor their work and thoughts and conversations and it's all very dead and sad. especially now with Big-red and all the ads and spammers and decay. And I liked the idea of bringing back a tiny bit of what the site was 10 years ago, even if it's not anything that anyone can see or cares about. so i had the idea of returning to the old ratings! it's dumb and small, but it's a tiny weird tradition thing that can come back and it'll be okay and fun to do. It's a lot of work though, haha. I'm starting with the feats, and i've done all the P feats, i think, unless i missed one, and im gonna try to do at least one letter a day. classes are next, and there are less of those so it'll be aeasier! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.158.74.118 (talkcontribs) at

[btw, for all my naysaying, I still check the wiki every day! don't worry, i'm not going anywhere haha, even if it is a little stagnant rn. it's still a really lovely place with lovely people and lot's of interesting creative things that people have built and designed. it's a good place :) ] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.158.74.118 (talkcontribs) at

This is very sweet, although strange that you did not ever played D&D in all these years, but I digress. I'm a newbie in this wiki and at D&D in general, but I relate to your nostalgic sentiment: sometimes scrolling throgh the wiki I learn of its history and its moments of maximum activity and I look quite nostalgically to those, even though I didn't experience them directly (or maybe because of that). --The bluez in the dungeon (talk) 19:59, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
Well, thanks for being here the whole time. We really have had a long journey. A lot of us, even though we don't make edits every day, still lurk through Recent Changes checking. The ads and spammers and things have been difficult (our site's traffic dropped down dramatically since the introduction of the intrusive ads) and we trudge on. There have been some big efforts made, but there's only so much time in a day. I make less edits usually because I'm busy prepping game sessions. As for your big project here... it is kinda curious, like... you could ask an administrator and we could do a bot and get it all done in like a half hour of work (the bot would take longer to process everything, but it would be less than the hours of work over a month you were thinking about.)
It isn't all sad though. A lot of us still hang around and have made long friendships from being here. Some users even married other users, got their doctorates, learned English properly (Leziad cough cough), moved on to brighter things. Heck, I still go back and edit my old articles to try and make them as good as they can be, sometimes with huge gaps of years between.
Still not sure on the "Why Though" of this if it is actually a good idea to implement. The whole thing kinda reminds me that I need to fix our SRD and make it actually usable and readable (it is going to be a lot of table constructing which is always a blahh thing to have to do). We also (usually Leziad and I) do big re-categorization projects and such, like overhauling weapon classifications. If you ever wanted to get in on one of those when we do them, I'd recommend making a user profile, if not, no biggee. --Ganteka Future (talk) 20:10, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
