This particular videopane is about three feet across and two feet high. Its bordered by black stone where glowing arcane runes have been inscribed. You can use the control or a specially designed wand to operate the device.
Videopanes are used for entertainment and telecommunication purposes in advanced magitech societies such as Eberron and Mu. The glassy pane acts as a receptor for a sort of reverse scrying, picking up magical waves designed to work on them and displaying visual and audio information as if using major image on a 2D surface. The communication is one-way, but the videopane can be controlled to change its frequency, allowing it to pick up different broadcasts assigned to each magical rune symbol and combination. Some societies broadcast constantly on hundreds of different rune symbols at once.
Videopanes are typically wondrous architecture and cannot be used when not connected to a structure or power source of some sort. A few can be used remotely, but they don't often have the energy to last very long without a dedicated power source. Some videopanes are said to come with recorder and transmitter devices to allow two-way communication.
