Wall of Quark Soup
Evocation [Fire, Light]

Area: Opaque sheet of quark-gluon plasma up to 20 ft. long/level or a ring of quark-gluon plasma with a radius of up to 5 ft. per two levels; either form 20 ft. high

The protection of this wall of light is absolute, all which passes through shall die.

This spell acts like wall of plasma, but formed of ill-understood and very hot quark-gluon plasma, or "quark soup". Though it is a fire spell, the fire it produces is so hot and so absolute, no amount of fire resistance or immunity applies. It deals 16d8 points of damage to creatures within 10 feet and 8d8 points of fire damage to those past 10 feet but within 20 feet. Those who attempt to pass through the wall must make a Fortitude save or be reduced to quark-gluon plasma, killing them. On a successful save they instead take 10 points of damage per caster level. The wall deals double damage to undead creatures.

Like wall of plasma, this wall is blinding bright. Creatures within 10 ft or closer of the damaging side who view the wall must make a Fortitude save or go blind permanently, or dazzled permanently on a successful save (effects which cure blindness cure the dazzling effect). Those past 10 ft but within 20 ft must save vs blinding for as long as they are in the area and 1 minute afterward, and dazzled for said duration on a successful save. Those past 20 ft but within 40 ft are simply dazzled as long as they are in the area, no save. You can avert your eyes as if it were a gaze attack, but take concealment against all targets you face. Creatures with 8 HD or less get no save against these effects.

If you evoke the wall so that it appears where creatures are, each creature takes damage as if passing through the wall. If any 5-foot length of wall takes 80 points of cold damage or more in 1 round, that length goes out. (Do not divide cold damage by 4, as normal for objects.)

Wall of quark soup can be made permanent with a permanency spell. A permanent wall of quark soup that is extinguished by cold damage becomes inactive for 1 round, then reforms at normal strength.

Material Component: A piece of hardlight ore.
