Back when monks were merely beginning to organize, and their philosophy was still spreading, two brothers and martial artists known as [[Ashla, the Illuminated Force (3.5e Vestige)|Ashla]] and Bogan studied under a great master and took two very different lessons from their teachings.  Where Ashla chose to draw power through tranquility and order, Bogan chose the path of intensity of emotion and instinct.  Their split put the brothers at odds, and soon fighting broke out between them.  Their battle lasted for 1000 years, even beyond death, and at the end, they both exhausted themselves so thoroughly that their very essence had dispersed into the cosmos, vanished from reality.

It is uncertain, but it is believed both Ashla and Bogan existed during the time of the monk Ronove<sup>ToM</sup>.  It's not known if she was a fellow monk, a friend, or even their teacher.  However, both seem to synergize well with her.
