Blocked on the Astral

The Astral isn't coterminous or coexistent. Where does the Astral Barrier's astral version go? I guess you could have meant Ethereal.

The Astral's non-coexistent nature is actually very awkward for this. Teleportation doesn't go through things at all; rather, it is a quick hop into the astral plane and then back, so even an airtight box that could not be teleported through could still be entered. --Foxwarrior 02:34, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

So actually what you need is not a material, but a variant rule for Teleportation which says that teleportation is instantaneous travel along the shortest path, ignoring all obstacles other than _____. --Foxwarrior 03:04, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Think for a moment like a person inside the D&D world. People will want permanent protections for their homes.

Astral Barrier (the name of the spell is not important) is permanent. It prevents teleportation and creates a barrier along the building in the Ethereal and Shadow planes. It cannot be dispelled - at least not outside the building.

It is not a high level spell. A traveling priest, cleric, wizard, etc. are able to perform this ritual/spell for every home in even the poorest village.

In contrast to dimensional lock the house needs to be constructed in a special way to hold this spell. It cannot be applied after the fact. Myrkraverk 10:55, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
