3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

A broad knife is similar to a common knife in lenght has a small single-edged blade, usually used as cutlery or woodworking tool, but sometimes pressed into service as a concealable weapon.

A broad knife is similar to a common dagger in lenght, since it typically features a double-edged blade and a cruciform hilt; however, as the name suggests, the broad knifer has a wider and heavier blade (it weights almost as much as a short sword) wich enhances the cutting capacity of the weapon over the thrusting attitude. For that reason, its blade has edges running parallel most of the weapon lenght, except for the tip, and even the tip of the sword is broader and more spatulate than the tip of a short sword.

The broad knife sometimes has a basket hilt to protect the wielder’s hand, but most of them are typically made without the basket hilt.

The broad knifei often used by common infantry soldiers as back-up weapon to deliver powerful blows and massacre enemies.

A broad dagger counts as a dagger or as a shortsword (but not as these two last weapons together) (but not as these two last weapons together) for the purpose of any of the following feats: Greater Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Specialization, Improved Critical, Weapon Focus, and Weapon Specialization: if a character has any of these feats both on the dagger and on the shortsword, the bonuses of the feats from the two last weapons don't stack within the broad knife.
