Dragonlances are powerful magical weapons designed to kill dragons. They originated in the Third Dragon War, during the Age of Light with the intent to overcome the evil dragons. There are two types of lances: A greater dragonlance is created using the Hammer of Kharas and the Silver Arm of Ergoth, both magical artifacts, infusing the lance with the power of good. When only one of the two artifacts is used, a lesser dragonlance is created.
