Cleaving Strike
A Cleaving Strike attack is a single attack against x creatures within y range (generally in a frontal arc), that deals, normally, a set amount of damage; z. A single attack roll is put against each creature targeted by this attack and the damage dealt is equal to z/x. If the attack misses any creature, then that creature's portion of damage is nullified.
For example, Iralt uses his Cleaving Strike ability targets up to 3 enemies adjacent to him in a frontal arc (the three squares in front of him). He deals 150 damage. However, there are only two creatures in his range; therefore each one has the potential to be dealt 75 points of damage. Iralt makes a single attack roll against all ACs within the range of his ability. He rolls high enough to hit one of his foes, but the other is too dexterous for him and Iralt misses. Only one of the enemies is dealt 75 points of damage, while the other 75 points are nullified.
Split Burst
A Split Burst attack is targeted upon a square or a creature where the attack will 'burst' from. The burst attack will deal a set amount of damage split amongst all creatures in the burst range. This effect does not require an attack roll, but normally allows for a save of some sort for reduced damage; either from the targeted creature or from all creatures affected by the blast.
Feats
Cleave [Fighter]
Slash, stab!
Prerequisites: Str 13, Power Attack
Benefits: Whenever you deal damage against an enemy, you may make a 'cleaving' attack against a second enemy adjacent to your initial target (and within your range). This cleaving attack uses the same attack roll and deals half the damage that was dealt to the initial target. This ability may only be used once per round.
