It's a flavorful familiar that while better than most animals, is not out of line. I like the divide of only getting Manipulate Object as an Improved Familiar. I could see myself selecting this as a familiar, enjoying the spoopy flavor and functionality, and not feeling guilty for it being too good. (edit: it may benefit from a line explicitly clarifying Manipulate Object size limit and CL for the Supernatural and Spell-like abilities).
