Tavşan[edit]

Timid and full of grace, tavşan originate from Soğuk island on the continent of Athlon. A place of beauty, with ancient forests as well as plains of harsh tundra. Tavşan are free spirits and love to be surrounded by nature.

Physical Description[edit]

The tavşan have rabbit-like features, including long ears and supple limbs. They generally wear stilettos, possibly due to the shape of their feet, although there have been exceptions. Their trademark long ears grant them exceptionally good hearing, although they are said to have excellent senses overall. Tavşan have shades of brown or shades of silver hair, though those who choose to live outside their native lands often color their hair.

Male tavşan do exist, but female and male tavşan create separate settlements and only communicate with each other when necessary as the males are secretive and competitive for food and space, even with their own race.

Personality[edit]

Most tavşan live only with other tavşan, however there are few tavşan who live outside their native lands. Tavşan as a race tend to live secluded lives and often choose the path of loners or traveling in tight knit family units. They usually avoid contact with other races and this leads to them often being misunderstood by other races. When dealing with other races they tend to be introverts. If they learn another language it usually common, and even then it is only as a way of communicating with traders and fishermen. They are soft spoken and are hard to read due to their distrust of outsiders, regardless of the outsiders race. They are not a hostile race and have always kept to themselves when it comes to time of war.

Tavşan who choose to live with other races are doing so because they crave social interaction. These tavşan would be viewed as party animals. Most likely to be living in a large city, drawn to taverns and the promise of adventure. These tavşan crave attention so much that it also common to see them with dyed hair. Any color that is possible will do for these attention seekers. Red, green, blonde and even purple. These tavşan who live in densely populated areas are what bring people to tavşan homelands. False impressions of all tavşan being like those who wish to live a life of popularity rather then seclusion like most tavşan are the reason native tavşan dislike those who leave to live that life.

If you are playing a tavşan in this setting you may want to choose the Survivalist background.

Relations[edit]

Male and female tavşan choose to live separately from each other since males are usually very competitive. That is not to say that tavşan don't have large villages and cities, because they do. A common tavşan village is about 1/5th the size of a human village. The only large city that tavşan have is Siginak, the capital city of Soğuk. Siginak is home to both male and female tavşan and houses the largest tavşan population in all of Cala'diel. Outside the walls of Siginak, tavşan villages are few and far between. The village of Arast is the largest male only settlement in Soğuk and Suvari is the largest female only settlement. Most other places you find tavşan living in are unmapped camps and small traveling parties.

Insan is the only village on Soğuk that is home to races other than tavşan. Humans from Brelum sailed to Soğuk and camped onshore while fishing the crescent sea. This also lead to tavşan befriending humans and thus gave the option for tavşan to leave Soğuk.

Lands[edit]

Soğuk island is a harsh tundra wasteland. The center of the island is a flat valleyish area that is surrounded by mountains. Humans who first sailed around the island looked onshore for places to camp and found only one area on the most southern part that was not covered in snow. This lead to Soğuk being referred to as The Frostfell Barrens, thinking that no one would want to live there. This works well for tavşan because they mostly don't wish deal with other races. The Meşe Forest, the place humans first camped, however is a beautiful lush coniferous forest.

Names[edit]

The tavşan population is very small, and they mostly live in small villages, so they typically only use first names. If you meet a tavşan with a last name, that name was most likely given to them by the people who live in the village or city they are from. This last name usually describes that tavşan very well and would be used to help make finding them easier. Tavşan living outside of Soğuk give themselves last names, most likely choosing the last name themselves to help them stand out more or draw attention.
