It appears very similar to a [[SRD:Two-Bladed Sword|two-blade sword]], but it's lighter in frame, though not much shorter, allowing a lot more maneuverability with it. It's used for flashy combat style and some cultures adapted the connected martial art as a form of performance.

If you are proficient with it, you may perform the following maneuvers:

'''Sideways Guard''': If you have the [[SRD:Two-Weapon Fighting (Feat)|Two-Weapon Fighting]] feat, you may act as if you had [[All Sides Defense (3.5e Feat)|All Sides Defense]]. If you already have it, or later gain it, you gain its secondary effect wheter or not you meet its requirement.

'''Spinning Strike''': If you use a [[SRD:Whirlwind Attack|Whirlwind Attack]] you may strike with both ends of the blade, rolling two times. This doesn't count as [[SRD:Two-Weapon Fighting (Feat)|Two-Weapon Fighting]], and so doesn't have any penalty to the roll.

A twinblade is a [[SRD:Double Weapon|double weapon]]. You can fight with it as if fighting with two weapons, but if you do, you incur all the normal attack penalties associated with fighting with two weapons, just as if you were using a one-handed weapon and a [[SRD:Light Weapon|light weapon]]. A creature wielding a twinblade in one hand can’t use it as a [[SRD:Double Weapon|double weapon]]—only one end of the weapon can be used in any given [[SRD:Round|round]].

You can use the [[SRD:Weapon Finesse|Weapon Finesse]] [[SRD:Feats|feat]] to apply your [[SRD:Dexterity|Dexterity]] modifier instead of your [[SRD:Strength|Strength]] modifier to [[SRD:Attack Roll|attack rolls]] with a twinblade sized for you, even though it isn’t a [[SRD:Light Weapon|light weapon]] for you. You can wield a twinblade in two hands in order to apply 1-1/2 times your [[SRD:Strength|Strength]] bonus to damage, but doing so prevents you from using your Dexterity for attack rolls.

If you lack exotic proficiency but you are proficient with the longsword, you may use the twinblade as such, but just one of the two blade at any time, changing between them as a move action that doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity.
