Eternity's End, Layer 666 of the Abyss
The last part of the Abyss found by any explorer, only the most insane or powerful go here. It is a vast, empty space, filled with nothing but the shadow demons that make this place their home. Any traveller that is not Abaddon or another shadow demon is likely to be attacked on sight, assuming they can survive the environment at all.
Eternity's End has no air, food or water, and practically no light. The only real 'direction' that can be divined is the path to Abaddon's fortress, Ending, which is as large as a planet, and made out of pure adamantine. However, the most dangerous part of Eternity's End is the mental pressure it exerts on those within it to contemplate their own flaws, and how they should destroy them by destroying themselves. Many are driven to suicide by this within a matter of hours.
Plane Traits
Physical Traits
- Gravity: No gravity
- Time: Timeless
- Size: Infinite
- Morphic: Alterable morphic (although there's little to alter)
- No Air: Eternity's End has no air. Any air-breathing creature on it immediately begins to suffocate.
- Low Light: Eternity's End is naturally dark (similar to a deeper darkness spell), although nothing impedes anyone from bringing a light source.
- Cold: The ambient temperature in Eternity's End is extreme cold.
Magic, Alignment, and Energy/Elemental Traits
- Elemental Dominance: None
- Energy Dominance: None
- Alignment Trait: Strongly chaos-aligned and evil-aligned
- Magic Trait: Normal magic
- Horror of Existence: All creatures that are not demons or native to Eternity's End must make a Will save (DC 30) every full hour that they spend here. If this save is failed, the creature immediately becomes morose and incapable (count as exhaustion, although immunity to exhaustion doesn't stop this). A second failed save causes the creature to simply cease to want to live, and it attempts to commit suicide at the next most convenient time. Only the use of remove curse is effective at ending this moroseness, and creatures that kill themselves as a result of this plane's effects can only be restored to life by miracle, true resurrection or wish.
Plane Links
Short of a direct gate to Eternity's End, only a single portal on the Plain of Infinite Portals links here. As the portal sucks air into itself constantly (having none of its own), upon its discovery, it was walled off with walls of force, allowing only those with the power of teleportation access to it. Otherwise, Eternity's End cannot be accessed.
Plane Inhabitants
By far the most numerous inhabitants of Eternity's End are shadow demons, which drift through its gravity-less space with their ability to fly. Abaddon also makes Eternity's End his home, and as a result, demons with minor and major ravages inflicted by him can also be found here. Undead are more unusual, but can be found here. Non-undead, non-demon creatures are completely unheard-of, and would likely be attacked on sight.
Movement and Combat
As Eternity's End has no gravity, movement throughout it requires flight. Additionally, countermeasures have to be taken against its lack of air and extreme cold temperatures. There is also a distinct lack of any kind of scenery - everything takes place in an extremely empty void, although the odd, very rare, object does occur.
Features of the Plane
Eternity's End has almost nothing on it, aside from Abaddon's castle Ending.
