The horsebreaker is an absolutely massive sword, even larger than a greatsword. It is so big that it qualifies as a huge weapon and does not exist in smaller sizes. From the hilt to the tip of the blade, it is about 12 feet long and the blade is 3 feet wide at its widest point. Horsebreakers cannot be wielded by Small, Medium, and even Large creatures without special training (specifically both [[Exotic Weapon Proficiency (3.5e Feat)]] and [[Horsebreaker Training (3.5e Feat)]]). Despite its size, it is not considered to be a reach weapon. Due to the immense strength required to wield such a ridiculously large blade, horsebreakers are comparatively rare. Those who master the weapon, however, have been seen slicing clean through both a horse and its rider in a single swing, hence the name (this requires the feat [[Horsebreaking Cleave (3.5e)]], which will be listed elsewhere).

1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

Prerequisite: Strength 23

The horsebreaker is an absolutely massive sword, even larger than a greatsword. It is so big that it qualifies as a huge weapon and does not exist in smaller sizes. From the hilt to the tip of the blade, it is about 12 feet long and the blade is 3 feet wide at its widest point. Horsebreakers cannot be wielded by Small, Medium, and even Large creatures without special training (specifically both Exotic Weapon Proficiency (3.5e Feat) and Horsebreaker Training (3.5e Feat)). Despite its size, it is not considered to be a reach weapon. Due to the immense strength required to wield such a ridiculously large blade, horsebreakers are comparatively rare. Those who master the weapon, however, have been seen slicing clean through both a horse and its rider in a single swing, hence the name (this requires the feat Horsebreaking Cleave (3.5e Feat), which will be listed elsewhere).

Slow Recovery - Due to the weight, the wielder of such a weapon suffers a -1 penalty to AC.

  • As the horsebreaker cannot be found in Medium or Large sizes, these figures are only for reference (since I can't seem to add the bigger sizes on for some reason. Default size is Huge, so increase damage to 4d8 for Huge, 5d8 for Gargantuan, and 6d8 for Colossal
  • 1 Listed weight is for Huge size
