Protective Beast [General]
Prerequisites: Must not be a Humanoid, Monstrous Humanoid, or Outsider.Benefit: You gain a Humanoid or Monstrous Humanoid cohort with an ECL equal to your own. However, this cohort can't have more than +2 Level Adjustment and 3 racial hit dice, and all further hit dice the cohort possesses beyond the minimum are Expert, Warrior, or Aristocrat levels.
If you have not been within 30' of the cohort in the past three days, you take a negative level that can only be cured by returning within 30' of the cohort.
If the cohort dies, you lose a level. This replaces the negative level you take for abandoning your cohort.
Normal: You don't have some random cohort following you around.Special: If playing by some alternative experience system that makes XP not be a river, loss of your cohort denies you access to a new one for one month instead.
