This spell creates a focused ray of destructive negative energy from the caster's outstretched hand. When you cast this spell, and whenever you concentrate on this spell, make a ranged touch attack against a valid target within range. On a successful hit, the struck creature takes 1d6 damage per caster level, half of the damage is typeless damage and the other half is negative energy. This negative energy does not heal undead or other creatures healed by it, but does not damage them. A creature slain by void ray is reduced to scattered ash, leaving only its magical equipment behind.
Upon reducing a creature to 0 or fewer hit points with void ray, you may immediately make a ranged touch attack against another target within range. You must choose the nearest target to the initial creature. You may do so repeatedly in a round if you bring down several creatures consecutively.
