Death's Stride
Least; 1st

The connection to the Gate is a connection to death itself, and with it your body feels light, almost incorporeal and ghostly. With some of your essence already shifted into the land of the dead, you gain a +10 bonus to your speed in light or no armor and when less than medium encumbrance. In addition, you may make spot and listen checks against ethereal creatures, and you may levitate over the ground for up to 1 round. For example, you could run off a cliff, and walk upon nothing more than shadow and air for 1 round. If you have not found a stable surface by then, you fall. This ability does not allow you to climb up or down, you remain on a horizontal plane. Finally, you leave no tracks in your wake.

However, there is a downside. With half your body ethereal, you become a target on the ethereal plane. Attacks from the ethereal suffer a 50% miss chance, but can hit you, while you may not have the means to fight back. This effect lasts for up to 24 hours.

Maximum Health Penalty: -3.
