Canon:Ability Score

From Dungeons and Dragons Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Dungeons and Dragons generally uses a six-stat system for determining the strengths and weaknesses of creatures. These six stats are, in the order usually presented, Strength (Str), Dexterity (Dex), Constitution (Con), Intelligence (Int), Wisdom (Wis), and Charisma (Cha). Optional ability scores added by supplements include Appearance (App) in the Book of Erotic Fantasy and Comeliness (COM) in ADnD.

Since DnD has its abilities centered around humans, having an ability score of 10 is considered to be equivalent to an average human. Having higher is above average and lower is below average.

For first level players, having between 7 and 20 is possible, though greater than 18 is rare. Ability scores generally only go up over time.

Methods of increasing ability scores include leveling up, wishes, putting on magical equipment, various spells, and being certain races.
