==Plot Summary==
This 32-page book begins with a two-page introduction. According to the adventure background provided, the plot involves a fortress that became buried in the earth ages ago, and became known as the Sunless Citadel. In the citadel's core grows the terrible Gulthias Tree, shepherded by the twisted druid, Belak the Outcast. The Tree spawns magical life giving (and life stealing) fruit, as well as evil creatures known as twig blights. The adventure starts with player characters hearing rumors about must foil the citadel while staying in plan of the nearby small town cultists of OakhurstTharizdun who have again occupied the temple. The majority cultists are attempting to restore each of four elemental nodes and release the adventure then focuses on the characters exploring the citadel Princes of Elemental Evil to bring destruction and encountering chaos to the malign creatures that have taken up residence within, such as kobolds and goblinssurrounding area. The characters eventually come upon the Twilight Grove and its blighted foliageBy doing so, where they find the Gulthias Tree and encounter the druid BelakPrinces would weaken Tharizdun's bonds. He explains that To summon the tree grew from a yet-green wooden stake that had been used to kill a vampire on that very spotPrinces, and the tree accepts humanoids bound to its bole as "supplicants", making Tharizdun's followers operate within the victims completely subservient to its will. A three-page appendix at the back of the book features statistics for all cult of the creatures encountered in the adventure, as well as three new magic items and the twig blightsElder Elemental Eye
==Publication History==
In 2017, The module was published by Wizards re-released of the Coast in 2001 for the adventure 3rd edition Dungeons & Dragons rules[3][4] as an updated , revised, and expanded sequel to 5th Edition rules the AD&D adventure The Temple of Elemental Evil. The publication was inspired by earlier revisions of other classic adventures by the company TSR, such as Return to White Plume Mountain and Return to the Keep on the Borderlands.[4] The book is 192 pages long, including four appendices. The main section consists of 3 parts and 8 chapters. Part one covers the town and Hommlet and the surrounding landscape, including the Temple of Elemental Evil while still in a state of disrepair. Part two details the Temple of All-Consumption, including the hamlet of Rastor, Crater Ridge mines, and the inner temple. The third part revolves around the final stages of the [[Publication:Tales_from_the_Yawning_Portal|Tales from cult's plans, set in the Temple of Elemental Evil after the cult restores it, and the Yawning Portal]] collectionfire node where they are attempting to summon an elemental prince.
Appendix 1 provides the details of magic items and monsters specific to the adventure. Appendix 2 fleshes out the abilities and effects of Tharizdun's followers. Appendix 3 provides the details of the adventure's non-player characters, and appendix four consists of documents the adventurers will discover during the game, which provide information about the cult's intentions.
