Talk:Nerve Fry (3.5e Feat)

Weapons[edit]
Seems overpowered against weapon users... I'm not saying it's strictly bad, but I don't see a DM ever using enemies who have weapons after a PC takes this feat... :-P --Ghostwheel 07:57, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
- Why not? It's like getting stunned, except you can still take actions and you don't lose a whole lot of AC. --Sulacu 15:56, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
- whats the will save? i cant find numbers for it--NameViolation 16:10, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
- @Sul: I can't think off-hand of a reliable way to stun someone virtually every round in rogue-level games--it's a strong wizard-level tactic, and can completely destroy an encounter if maintained. Same with this. Just imagine for a moment if this feat were paired with the ability to deal lightning damage easily; then the controller would as a readied action each round, target an enemy (or multiple) with lightning damage in response to their attacking with melee weapons. As long as they save and aren't monks or rely on other unarmed attacks, they're rendered completely ineffective. A DM would probably get tired of that, and switch to characters who don't use weapons instead so his enemies aren't rendered useless quite that easily--I know that's what I'd probably do if I felt frustrated from an ability like this. --Ghostwheel 16:16, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
- Locked gauntlets also do the trick. Why isn't it a fort save? Lightning normally targets fort. Most weapon wielders also have a good fort save, which would make this a bit more reasonable at Rogue level. --Andrew Arnott (talk, email) 17:14, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
- Made it Fortitude. I suppose Ghostwheel's theoretical situation has some merit, since the Lightning Bolt ability is pretty easy to use. I would like to point out that you can't target multiple enemies with it, though, and the Lightning Bolt spell would usually be a bit hard to splash. Since it is the only other source of damage named Lightning Bolt, there isn't much to worry about in the multiple stun area. --Foxwarrior 19:08, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
- The save is as normal for a Bender of Fire (10 + 1/2 Bending Level + Strength Modifier). --Foxwarrior 19:08, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
