Talk:Trip Slide (3.5e Skill Trick)

I think this skill trick is overpowered. While already getting what you want (moving past an opponent) you can make a trip attempt, FOR FREE. I suppose you would provoke an attack of opportunity by doing so, but that doesn't balance out the fact that you can still take a standard action, on your now prone enemy. I think the requirements for this trick are simply too low, maybe have feat requirements such as, Combat Reflexes, and Improved trip. Then clarify that the attack still does provoke an attack of opportunity despite the fact that improved trip elevates it under normal circumstances. This having been said, Trip Slide is a pretty cool concept. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.6.175.137 (talkcontribs) at

It isn't free. First, you have to make a DC 25 tumble check. Second, you can only use this once per encounter (like any other skill trick). Third, you actually have to succeed at a trip attempt (which I'll assume you invested in Improved Trip to avoid the AoO).
I will think a bit more about your comments though. I agree that it is a pretty strong ability, but I'm not sure it is much more broken than using spot to make an attack against touch AC (for instance), which is a WotC skill trick. Not that WotC material is our balance point, but I never really considered that skill trick a wizard balance point ability. --Aarnott 20:49, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
