Masters of Prestidigitation and minor magics driven to provide the world with overwhelming joy or crushing despair. 1.

The Prestige[edit]

Not all magicians fling about fireballs or lightning bolts with reckless abandon; Archmages creating new planes; or Liches summoning up undead in droves to fill out their regiments. Some are driven to the stage, to entertainment, but not with song or at least not song alone. No, these wizards of the stage are Prestiges: masters of Prestidigitation and minor magics driven to provide the world with overwhelming joy or crushing despair.

Making a Prestige[edit]

The Prestige, like the Bard, is a performer but where the Bard uses music and has access to a multitude of spells, the Prestige has a more defined repertoire consisting primarily of cantrips and pure illusion spells. In a party, the Prestige either takes the role of the party “Face” or a less direct approach, making the true leader of the party and the more “serious” party members more skillful in court meetings and the like while gathering information from the townsfolk on his own. The Prestige is a skillful character in her own right, possibly taking the scout role for the party, or hiding using their illusions and taking up the role of a secondary thief. In combat the Prestige takes cover in the back behind even the wizards, due to her lack of innate defensive capabilities. For the Prestige that wants to fight, getting buffs from the party or using wands would be good options.

Abilities: A Prestige relies primarily on his charm, making Charisma his defining statistic. However no proper stage magician worth his salt would be without the ability to pick a pocket or be ignorant of the goings-on where she is putting up her boots, making Dexterity (for picking pockets as well as some defensive ability) and Intelligence (for the needed skill points) his other two needed abilities. While the Prestige is not concerned about Strength or Wisdom (sometimes making a bad choice leads to more excitement!), his low hit points mean that every bit of Constitution needs to count.

Races: Races with a sense of humor and wonder. Half-Elves and Gnomes are particularly drawn towards it.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the <-class name->.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: <-description of class weapon & armor proficiencies->. he Prestige is proficient with all simple weapons but has no armor or shield proficiencies

"The Pledge" (Ex): A Prestige has studied the spell Prestidigitation and has so much experience and knowledge about the spell Prestidigitation that he can perform simple tasks and chores. This gives you the following extraordinary abilities which you may use as a Free Action.

1. Use the spell Prestidigitation.
2. Besides fire with “firefinger,” also use cold or electricity.
3. Create glowing balls, any color and brightness, and put them on any location in range of the spell, where they will stay for the duration of the spell.

Magical Wisps (Sp): The Prestige gains arcane mark, dancing lights, and ghost sound at-will.

Parlor Tricks (Ex): At 1st level, a Prestige is constantly under the effects of the Prestidigitation spell. You may use this ability to alter the color, sound, smell, and look of a spell as you cast it. These changes are unable to alter the effective level of the spell or increase or decrease the effects of a spell. These changes do make it more difficult for another mage to identify a spell as it is being cast which raises the DC of this task by 2. He is also a master of close-up magic, gaining a class bonus to Sleight of Hand equal to one-half his Prestige level (rounded up)

Know Your Crowd (Ex): A Prestige may make a special Know Your Crowd check with a bonus equal to his Prestige level + his Intelligence modifier to see whether he knows some relevant information about local notable people, legendary items, or noteworthy places. (If the Prestige has 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (history), he gains a +2 bonus on this check.) A successful check will not reveal the powers of a magic item but may give a hint as to its general function. A Prestige may not take 10 or take 20 on this check; this sort of knowledge is essentially random.

DC Type of Knowledge
10 Common, known by at least a substantial minority drinking; common legends of the local population.
20 Uncommon but available, known by only a few people legends.
25 Obscure, known by few, hard to come by.
30 Extremely obscure, known by very few, possibly forgotten by most who once knew it, possibly known only by those who don't understand the significance of the knowledge.

Improved Prstidigitation (Ex): Upon gaining 6th level, the Prestige has come to a profound understanding of how magic works. Prestidigitations he casts are more durable (effects last a number of hours equal to the caster level), more believable (Illusions created with this can fool sentient beings with Intelligence of 13 or lower, however, they do get a Will save DC 10 + the Prestige's Int (or Cha) bonus + half his class level), and just generally more skillful. Materials created by Prestidigitation are still not usable as tools or spell components. Whenever a social situation arises where the caster may use Prestidigitation to alter the outcome, he gains a circumstance bonus equal to his class level.

Hidden Pocket (Su): At third level the Prestige can create a small portalthat is typically located inside of a sleeve or behind an ear (his own or someone else's). The portal appears at will, and less then an inch from the Prestige's body. It can hold only one item of 5 pounds or less (this increases 5 lbs every 3 levels after the first to a maximum of 30 lbs). When an object is stored in the Hidden Pocket its weight is reduced to half of its original weight. It is treated as an extra pocket on the Prestige. It can function as a place to store something or a place to hide things

For My First Trick (Grey) (Ex): At third level, an article of clothing the Prestige chooses (typically a hat) becomes a Grey Bag of Tricks, except that the Prestige may only use the bag a number of times per day equal to ½ his class level (rounded down).

A Magician Never Reveals His Tricks... (Ex):The Prestige no longer needs a verbal component to cast Prestidigitations. They can, however, make up verbal components if they wish

Double Speak (Ex):At 4th level, a Prestige can speak to a group and deliver two different messages with the same words to any number of people, dividing the messages among the group. Requires a DC (10 + ½ Prestige level + Charisma modifier) to hear both messages.

Illusionist (Sp):At 4th level, the Prestige may use silent image as a spell-like ability. At 6th level this becomes minor image. At 9th level this becomes major image.

...And Never Shows His Hand (Ex):The Prestige no longer needs a somatic component to cast Prestidigitations. They can, however, make up somatic components if they wish.

Profound Prestidigitation (Ex):You have reached a deeper understanding of the spell Prestidigitation that enables you to influence a larger area, volume, weight and worth. You can multiply the cast range as well as the area of gather (10 feet), the distance for tie (1 feet), the maximum volume for cleaning or soiling (1 cubic foot or 1 square foot square), the maximum weight able to be moved (1 pound), changed ((fine size) 8 ounce) and created (1 gold piece) equal to your Prestige level. The Prestige can also chill or warm a object between 32°F/0°C (freezing point of water) and 212°F/100°C (boiling point of water) but only on non living matter.

For My First Trick (Rust) (Ex):A sixth level the "hat" of the Prestige may no act as a Rust Bag of Tricks or a Grey Bag of Tricks, the amount of uses per week remains the same.

Pocketing (Ex):At 7th level a Prestige may put an item in his Hidden Pocket as a free action.

Magical Sleight of Hand (Sp):At 7th level the Prestige becomes a master at sleight of hand style magic, pulling large objects out of thin air and have them simply disappear. The Prestige may use shrink item a number of times per day equal to his class level.

Another Face In the Crowd (Sp): At 7th level a Prestige may cast disguise self at-will.

Nothing Up My Sleeve (Ex):An 8th Prestige may select an article of clothing to be operable as a Glove of Storing.

Magical Creation (Su):Crafting a item with the spell Prestidigitation goes easy for you. You gain a bonus on any craft check, you are skilled with, equal to half your Prestige level (rounded up) plus 1.

Create: You can create (this may require a appropriated craft check, at DM discretion) small or medium objects out of thin air, it can't be used as material components. These items are so good and durable as the regular items, you can only create simple (DC5) or a typical (DC10) item of this quality. You can state the duration of the creation on the hour so long it does not exceed the maximum. Appraise and/or appropriate craft check against your result to notice it's true nature, at DM discretion.
Example: You can create a gold coin this way but on close inspection reveals that their is something fishy about this coin, this is noticeable to everyone with some experience with gold.
Change: You can change a fine, small or medium size object or reform one or more items into one or more items, but it may require a appropriated craft check, at DM discretion, you can decide for how many hours it will remain in this new form so long it doesn't exceed the maximum time.
Example: You can reform a broken dagger, vial... into a new one. In theory you could repair or reform a broken vial with the original content back in the vial.
Stitch: Not only can you stitch/repair textiles or leather but also wood, you can state the duration of this stitch/repair on the hour or if you use existing material fix it permanent.

"The Turn" (Sp):A Prestige may vanish as a standard action. This functions like the invisibility spell, but only applied to himself. He may remain invisible up to 1 minute per character level per day. The time does not need to be consecutive but is always measured in at least 1 minute intervals.

Skill Mastery (Ex):At 10th level, a Prestige is able to take 10 on any Balance, Escape Artist, Hide, Move Silently, Perform, Sleight of Hand and Tumble checks even in stressful or dangerous situations.

Master of the Stage (Ex):At 10th level the Prestige has practiced giving nothing away with his voice or his actions when doing his magical “tricks of the trade.” As such the Prestige may use any spell-like ability he has been granted by his levels in this class as if it were made still and silent.

For My First Trick (Tan) (Ex):At level eleven the Prestige may now use his "hat" as a Tan Bag of tricks or either of the two lower tier Bags, the amount of uses remains the same (½ Prestige level (rounded down). However, you may now skew the probability of any given animal by 5% for each rank you have in Perform (Stage Magician), effectively choosing which animal you desire at 20 ranks.

Props At the Ready (Ex):At level twelve a chosen article of clothing may be used as though it were a Handy Haversack by the Prestige.

Exit Stage Left (Sp):At 12th level the Prestige needs to get out of sticky situations all the more often than his fellow party members and sometimes getting just a little further is all it takes. The Prestige can teleport himself up to 20 feet a number of times per day equal to his class level.

Improved Magical Creation (Su):You have reached a deeper understanding of the spell Prestidigitation. Your basic influence of change (weight 8 ounce) move/gather (1 pound) and create (worth 1 gp) is now multiplied by twice your Prestige level (this supersedes the bonus from Profound Prestidigitation).

Create: You can create (this may require a appropriated craft check, at DM discretion) fine, small, medium or large objects out of thin air, it can still not be used as material component. These items are so good and durable as the regular item or material, you can create a simple (DC5), a typical (DC10), a high quality (DC15) or a complex or superior item (DC20) of this quality. You can state the duration of the creation on the minute. Appraise and/or appropriate craft check against your result plus your primary ability modifier to notice it's true nature, at DM discretion.
Change: You can change a fine, small, medium or large size object or reform one or more items into one or more items, but it may require a appropriated craft check, at DM discretion, you can decide for how many half hours it will remain in this new form but not exceeding the maximum.
Example: You can salvage any metal out off ore, the ore total weight may not exceed your limit. Theoretical you're are not only changing the metal in the ore but the whole ore, how else would you separate the wanted metal from the rest.
Example: You can also purify any material to make it as pure as possible using the appropriated skill craft at DC20 or alchemy also at DC20. This doesn't necessary make the material stronger or more durable but it will most likely be more valuable and smaller.
Compress: You can compress one or more regular items into a simple geometric shape and return it to it's former form at any time you wish without a craft check. Items can be so small as a coin or any other size of a massive gold object of the same weight. Keep in mind that the mass doesn’t change and you can only compress it into a simple geometric shape like a cube, cone, cylinder, pyramid or sphere. The color doesn't change but you can change it into any color or patroon of colors you wish.
Stitch: Not only can you stitch/repair textiles, leather and wood but also metal. You can state the duration of this stitch/repair on the half hour or if you use existing material make it permanent..

You Can't Fool A Fool! (Ex):The Prestige has been at his trade long enough to know when a sham is a sham. Treat the Prestige as though he had true seeing active at all times and gains a bonus to Sense Motive equal to her class level.

Supreme Skill Mastery (Ex):At 19th level, a Prestige is able to take 20 on any Balance, Escape Artist, Hide, Move Silently, Perform, Sleight of Hand and Tumble checks even in stressful or dangerous situations, and does not take twenty times as long as usual for taking 20.

“The Prestige” (Ex):At 20th level, you can create permanent items or material at the cost in XP equal to 1/5th (rounding up) the gp price of the material. You are so experienced with the spell Prestidigitation that you are now master of your own body, with the following benefits:

You don't age any more.
You are immune to diseases and poisons.
You automatically heal yourself as with Cure Minor Wounds per round.
You can undo all effects of aging of your body or create them.
You can undo all imperfection's of your body or create them.
You can change you hair, skin, nail, eye color and body odor.
All spell-like abilities of the Prestige class may be cast an unlimited number of times per day (i.e., Exit Stage Left)
