</noinclude>A frightened creature take a -4 penalty on all [[SRD:Attack Roll|attack rolls]], [[SRD:Saving Throw|saving throws]], [[SRD:Skill Check|skill checks]], and [[SRD:Ability Check|ability checks]]. They also suffer a 30% failure on all [[SRD:Powers|powers]], [[SRD:Psi-Like Ability|psi-like abilities]], [[SRD:Spells|spells]] and [[SRD:Spell-Like Ability|spell-like abilities]].

If a frightened creature takes a total defense action or takes at least one move action to retreat from the source of its fear and other obvious threats, it instead takes penalties as if it were <noinclude>[[Shaken, Revised (3.5e Condition)|</noinclude>shaken<noinclude>]]</noinclude> for the round. Spells cast in a direct attempt to more quickly escape the scene suffer this reduced penalty as well.<noinclude>

This effect does '''not''' stack with itself or any other [Fear] effect to become a more severe form of fear.
