They cannot be stripped of their power, going after their core beliefs cause their divine spark to shrivel and weaken then considerably. This alternate class feature is designed for those who like the idea of the Code of Conduct, without all the hassle rulewise it causes.

|benefit=A Divine Spark Paladin do not become a fallen paladin when she violate her code of conduct. Instead she suffer a single [[Daunt (3.5e Creature Ability)|Daunt]] level whenever she violate her code. This [[Daunt (3.5e Creature Ability)|Daunt]] level cannot be removed normally, instead it goes away if the Paladin change alignment to reflect her new action or if she make amend for her failures. If the Paladin find herself unable to make amend she may remove the level by meditating for 8 hours and reaffirming her beliefs. 

If the Divine Spark Paladin change alignment she take a number of [[Daunt (3.5e Creature Ability)|Daunt]] levels equal to her class level. While she possess those daunt level she is unable to use any of her Paladin's spells or supernatural ability. As above those levels cannot be removed normally. She may remove one level by meditating for 8 hours on her new beliefs. When all daunt level are removed she may either keep her new alignment or become Lawful Good again. In either case she regain her Paladin abilities, possibly changing her code in the process.

This Alternate Class Feature still take effect after the Paladin change alignment, changing lawful good for whatever the Paladin's new alignment is. This usually mean a switch to a [[Publication:Unearthed Arcana/Paladin Variants - Freedom, Slaughter, and Tyranny|Variant Paladin]] with matching alignment to your own.}}
