This spell can only affect humanoid creatures whose HD is 1/2 your caster level or less.  On a failed save, they become enthralled to your will and will follow your every command, though suicidal commands are ignored.  Enthrallment in this manner is obvious, usually accompanied by blank stares and a visible ''[[SRD:Arcane Mark|arcane mark]]'' on the forehead, though disguises may be able to obscure this fact.  However it only takes a DC 15 Sense Motive check to detect something is amiss.

Enthralled creatures follow commands only with the same complexity as given to mindless skeletons and zombies, but they otherwise have their full faculties, feats, and class abilities available to them to achieving this command.  This can include basic responses to questions, but they cannot give responses to anything from their memory beyond their feats and skills as their original mind is suppressed.  Breaking the mental control on the creature can occur via anything that would break normal mental compulsion, [[SRD:Dispel Magic|dispelling]], ''[[SRD:Erase|erase]]'' on a touch with a successful opposed caster level check against your caster level, or successfully knocking the creature unconscious by any means which resets their mind and dismisses the effect.  (Natural sleeping habits do not count, but magical sleep does).

No matter how many times you use this spell, however, you can control only 4 HD worth of enthralled creatures per caster level. If you exceed this number, all the newly created creatures fall under your control, and any excess thralls from previous castings become uncontrolled. (You choose which creatures are released.)  This is actually the same control pool used by ''[[SRD:Animate Dead|animate dead]]'', and the two spells overlap for the purpose of control.

If cast as an Bard 6th or Sorcerer/Wizard 8th level spell, you can enthrall any type of creatures, not just humanoids.

''Material Component:''  Crushed prism dust worth 25 gp per HD of the thrall.  The dust is not consumed if you do not have enough dust for the HD, but is still consumed on a failed save.
