''A thick cloying mist danced in a tube of congealed bits of "dew" that sparkled with their own dull inner prismatic light.  Drops drifted to and fro, sometimes winking in and out of existence entirely.''

[[Summary::Formed from condensed essence from the astral plane, astral dewfrost augments effects which teleport and plane shift and, in sufficient amounts, can stabilize ''gate'' spells.]]  In spite of its name it is not cold, but is delicate and prone to evaporating if not sealed away from the elements.  Obtaining astral dewfrost is difficult; it will rarely form naturally on the astral plane but typically requires alchemy and access to the astral plane directly or indirectly to filter off the required essence and stabilize it.  It takes the appearance of a heavier than air mist filled with multicolored drops of "water" that drift within it.

One dose can be used as a material component for any Teleportation or Calling spell, which increases the caster level by +1, and allows rerolling any Mishap result for teleportation.

5 doses can be consumed like a potion (and is about the same size as an average potion), resulting in the effect of ''[[SRD:Teleport|teleport]]'' (self only, CL 9th), but you roll twice and take worse for mishaps.  You can also try to duplicate ''[[SRD:Plane Shift|plane shift]]'' (self only) but have a 15% chance of ending up on a random plane.  Both effects expose the user to infection from [[Astral Shudder (3.5e Disease)|astral shudder]] disease.

100 doses can act as a medium for powerful teleportation.  If a ''[[SRD:Gate|gate]]'' spell (or any other spell that forms a passage) is cast there, the spell effect is Permanent duration until the medium is destroyed.  They are usually stored within specialized pools, or formed into dewfrost filled ring gates.

If left exposed to the elements, astral dewfrost has a half life of 1d4+1 days.  It leaves behind faint silvery residue in its wake.
