You curse a target to be hunted by the Hunger of the Deep, an entity somewhere between reality and unreality and yet no less dangerous.  It can reach the real world through sufficiently deep water, enough for a large bowl of soup or larger.  When the cursed subject ends his turn with line of effect within 10 feet of any sufficiently large source of water, shadowy tentacles only he can see reach out and try to pull him in and devour him, causing a [[Reflex]] save vs taking 6d6 damage, save negates.  In addition, on a failed save, they must also make a [[Fortitude]] save or die.  This will occur once every round at the end of their turn as long as they remain near water.  If they die by failing the Fort save, or die from damage, others who can see the target witness them suddenly shrivel up as if all the water had been sucked from their body and perish.

The Hunger torments the creature, and if the creature sleeps within 1 mile of a large body of water (a river, pond, or larger), they are subject to a ''[[SRD:Nightmare|nightmare]]'' spell, no save, as they are pursued by the Hunger in their dreams.

The curse bestowed by this spell cannot be dispelled, but it can be removed with a ''[[SRD:Break Enchantment|break enchantment]]'' of a higher caster level, ''[[SRD:Limited Wish|limited wish]]'', ''[[SRD:Miracle|miracle]]'', ''[[SRD:Remove Curse|remove curse]]'' of a higher caster level +5, or ''[[SRD:Wish|wish]]'' spell.  Aquatic creatures get a +8 bonus on the save.
