To craft a kintsukuroi reforged item the crafter must have 8 or more ranks in the appropriate [[SRD:Craft Skill|craft]] skill or any appropriate item creation feat.

== Kintsukuroi Items ==

The kintsukuroi item template may only be added to items that have been destroyed but have enough pieces to conceivably rebuild it physically.  These items are put back together with gold or similar materials as a sort of glue to bind it back together.  Beyond restoring the mundane use of the item, it also restores any magical properties it had as it was before it was destroyed.  In return it permanently loses 2 hardness and either 10 hp, or half its hp (whichever is less).  If destroyed again it is instead rendered [[Broken (3.5e Condition)|broken]] and left at 1 hp.  Loss of this last hit point with a second attack destroys it as normal, and it can be restored to function again by paying 1/10th of its crafting cost and spending 8 hours repairing it, the template does not need to be re-applied.

These items carry the history of their use and how they were broken with them.  When subject to ''[[SRD:Identify|identify]]'' or similar spells, or an Appraise check of DC 20, this history is revealed.  Any checks made to learn about the item are also lowered by 5 points.

Kintsukuroi repair does not function on ammunition and other items that is normally broken by use, and it does not restore lost item charges that were already consumed.
