1d4 per round is fatal[edit]

For many spells, that can be certain death. I actually don't advise it to last more than 1 round since it means the strength of the altered spell can range from "beneficial but small ability damage" to "100% fatal over time".

I see you made some edits. I don't particularly agree with this free metamagic concept, but that aside there was something else I thought to bring up. I see the damage dropped to 1d2, but the problem actually wasn't the die size. The problem is that many spells you'd use this on have a very long duration or even permanent duration. So even if it was 1, it would still be fatal for anything measured in minutes.
