Right after intoning the strange syllables that invoke this spell your eyes seem flicker around in their sockets with blurring speed. In a second, you have surveyed your surroundings. In two, you have spotted the rogues moving in position on either side of you. They will not be a problem.
This spell gives you a number of benefits:
- Once per round, you can make a spot check to spot something you failed to see previously as a free action.
- You gain Improved Uncanny Dodge like the barbarian class feature, substituting your caster level as your effective barbarian level.
- If you have to defend against a gaze attack and you choose to avert your eyes, the creature with the gaze attack no longer has Concealment from you. You still have a 50% change to be affected.
- Alternatively, if you would normally choose to 'close' your eyes in defense against a gaze attack you can instead choose a more careful form of averting your eyes, giving the creature concealment instead of total concealment while still keeping you safe from the gaze attack.
- Creatures under the effect of a haste spell do not receive the +1 bonus to attack against you nor their +1 dodge bonus to AC.
- You receive a +2 bonus on any reflex save that involves closing your eyes quickly or looking away, such as with spells that attempt to blind you with sudden bright lights.
