She struck her hand forward and from it shot a ball of water traveling at high speed.
Named for the naiad who developed the spell, Galea's drenching orb takes a note from the effects of a water elemental's drench ability.
A drenching orb flies forth from the hand of the caster, dealing 1d8 + caster level (maximum +5) bludgeoning or nonlethal bludgeoning damage (caster's choice when cast) with a successful ranged touch attack to hit the target. On an attack roll of a natural 20, the target must make a Fortitude save or be knocked prone.
The drenching orb puts out torches, campfires, exposed lanterns and other open flames of nonmagical origin if they are of Medium size or smaller. The drenching orb functions as dispel magic against magical fires and [Fire] effects, additionally dealing double the extra caster level as damage to fire subtyped creatures.
A caster with at least a base attack bonus of +6 may cast the spell as an attack action as part of a full-attack action. Casting Galea's drenching orb doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity for casting while in melee.
When cast as a full-round action, Galea's drenching orb doesn't expend the use of its spell slot.
When cast as a 2nd level spell, galea's drenching orb gains a range of Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level), increases the caster level maximum for damage to +10 and also threatens to knock targets flat-footed on any hit (a Fortitude save negates the effect but not the damage). It can drench nonmagical flames of up to Large size and smaller.
