BrumornoEdit

A race of mortal feys with the power to summon or disperse fog.

PersonalityEdit

Timid and reserved to the point of shyness, brumorni are a reclusive race which avoids almost all interactions with other creatures, unless absolutely necessary, and oftentimes these interactions ends in violence.

They are quiet and rarely speak their mind, favoring introspection over expression. They are as cold as the mist that rolls down a mountain.

Physical DescriptionEdit

They are humanoid, with dull, grey, light-blue, green or violet skin, with hair of similar color, deep yellow eyes, fringed ears and pointed teeth. Their most notable feature is the single horn which grows on their head, in a random point and various forms. It's usually light brown, with one hole on the tip and hollow inside, which makes them very brittle and not suited for combat. They also have keratine-ridged brows, shoulders and knuckles.

Their horn has the strange ability to create or disperse fog and mist, by blowing air through it and producing an eerie sound.

RelationsEdit

As specified, they are very distrusting of other races and even of other brumorni. This has led to more conflicts than peaceful relationships. They also keep to themselves among other brumorni. Common folk often talks about them as spirits of the mist, or other similar monstrous creatures. Because of this, they are mostly feared or at least mistrusted.

AlignmentEdit

Most of them are neutral, some neutral evil. Very few stray towards chaos, law or good.

LandsEdit

They are said to be native of a misterious Plane of Mists, but now inhabit any place with enough fog, especially in mountain forests. They build temporary homes, and move frequently to avoid detection, following the mist.

Religion and SocietyEdit

They follow a religion which involves consulting mist for divination and advice, sometimes referred to as the Lady of Veils, which helps them remain hidden. Many also pay respect to deities of secrets and stealth.

They are nomadic and live in small tribes, which are democratically managed, with few laws. Even within their small communities, they are usually reserved.

LanguageEdit

They speak Sylvan, and learn Common to be able to send strangers away.

NamesEdit

Racial TraitsEdit

  • +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma: Their meditative nature grants them a strengthened intuition, but leaves them cold and unaffective.
  • Humanoid (Spiritfolk): Said to be the offspring of humanoids and mystical creatures of fogs, they have innate magical capabilities.
  • Medium: As a Medium creature, a brumorno has no special bonuses or penalties due to its size.
  • Brumorno base land speed is 30 feet.
  • Foghorn (Su): At will, as a standard action which doesn't provoke, a brumorno may blow its horn to produce a 10-feet cube of fog which occupies its space or an adjacent square. The fog may be stationary or move in a straigth line, with a speed of 20 feet each round (the choice is made at the time of using this power). At 3 HD and each 3 subsequent HD, the area increases by 5 feet, up to 40 feet. The effect lasts one minute per Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) but is otherwise treated as normal mist. The horn may be used also to disperse and dispel fog, with the same action, range and area of the previous effect. If a caster level check is needed, use the brumorno's HD + its positive Wisdom modifier.
  • Fog Stalker (Ex): A brumorno may see in fog and fog-like conditions further than regular humanoids. It sees perfectly the first 15 feet, suffers partial concealment the subsequent 15 feet and total concealment beyond that point. It can qualify for the Fog Stalker feat, even if it doesn't meet the requirements. It also gains a +2 to Hide, Intimidate and Move Silently while in fog or mist.
  • Hidden in the Mist: Brumorni are incredibly good at remaining hidden. They treat Hide and Move Silently as class skills for all their classes.
  • Mistrust: Quick to judge strangers, brumorni learn to rapidly assess those that approach them. Brumorni may use the Sense Motive check to get an hunch as a full-round action instead of a minute.
  • Automatic Languages: Common, Sylvan
  • Bonus Languages: Aquan, Auran, Elven, Halfling, Necril
  • Favored Class: Rogue
  • Level Adjustment: +0
  • Effective Character Level: 1
