Some call them weird. Some call them idiotically flamboyant. Both died shortly after being cut to ribbons.... by an extremely flamboyant man wielding ribbons.

Ribbonblade

The Ribbonblade is an... odd fighter. It is closely related to the monk, except it comes with a catch. A Ribbonblade fights using a ribbon of varying length as a weapon. When fighting with bare fists, the ribbon allows them to be more effective when grappling. When they need a blade, the ribbon becomes a bit more magical. They focus their Ki into the ribbon, to specially harden it, sharpen it, and shape it into whatever blade they need. When they feel like they are losing, they can use some of their limited magic to distract enemies. All of this creates a man capable of slicing all enemies to ribbons.

Making a Ribbonblade

The Ribbonblade functions as a groups fighter. It can serve as the face of a group but this is uncommon. It can function as a tank, or a sneaky fighter, just depending on how you build it.

Abilities: The most important attribte for the Ribbonblade is Strength so it can be a more powerful fighter. Next is charisma and dexterity, effecting a Ribbonblade's spell casting and fighting respectively.

Races: All races are equally as likely to becom a Ribbonblade, though Halflings are more drawn to this particular style of fightong ads it can rely on it's particular finesse.

Alignment:As it is a class based on a characters whimsy you must be any non-lawful alignment.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Ribbonblade.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Ribbonblade is not proficient with any armor, and is proficient with all simple and martial weaponry, as well as one exotic weapon of the players choice.

Unarmed Strike: A Ribbonblade's fighting style mimics the monks in some aspects so it is given the Improved Unarmed Strike Feat.

Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Battle Cloth): The Ribbonblade can use a "Battle Cloth", which is in reality any strip of cloth at least two feet long, and has no real advantage unless you are a Ribbonblade.

Improved Grappling A Ribbonblades fighting style allows them to use the cloth in strange ways to tir the enemy, aiding in your grapple techniques. This functions the same as the Improved Grapple feat.

Monk/Bard Abilities: Any abilities a Ribbonblade has that is shared by the monk or bard functions in the same way, unless otherwise specified.

Cloth Control: The Ribbonblade has a strange ability which channels their Ki into their Battle Cloth. This allows them to make the cloth rigid, as if made of steel, and sharpened to form any weapon or hardening the cloth on his body to make armor, the rigidity varies depending on what kind of armor you are proficient in.the Ribbonblade desires, as long as they have the appropriate amount of cloth, which mean to create a bow and arrow, you would need one extemely long piece of cloth, or two cloths. (decided at the DM's descretion) and is proficient with that weapon. Morphing your cloth takes the same amount of time it would to draw your weapon. Any cloth you shape will hold that shape and rigidity for 3d4 rounds plus half of your Ribbonblade level. One your cloth loses shape and rigidity it remains that way for 2d3 rounds.(you must be touching the cloth to use this ability)

Spell Like Abilities: A Ribbonblade has the following spells as his spell-like abilities. Five of these may be used in one day: Dancing Lights, Flare, Animate Cloth (functions the same as Animate Rope but requires Cloth), Blur, Disguise Self, Fabricate (only to make cloth, no other creations), Ghost Sound, Glitterdust (this is not the spell, so the Ribbonblade will typically have to walk around with at least one pocket full of glitter).

Eratic Mind: This skill functions similar to Still Mind, except it is caused by intense whimsy.

Improved Cloth Control: When this ability is earned a Ribbonblade can control fabric from a distance, shaping it even if he is not touching it. This skill has a radius of 30 feet.

True Cloth Control: This ability allows the Ribbonblade to increase the size of the cloth, and increasing his range to 50 feet. He also may craft items other than weapons such as a grappling hook or sheperds crook.

Ex-Ribbonblades

A RibbonBlade is powered by his own inner whimsy, so becoming lawful signifies your loss of inner whimsy.Once you are lawful you may no longer advance as a Ribbonblade, and lose your spell-like abilities, as well as any form of Cloth Control you may have achieved.

Playing a Ribbonblade

Religion: Most Ribbonblades worship either Akadi as she is the goddess of movement and speed, two things all Ribbonblades have a respect for, Nathair Sgiathach as he is the god of pranks and mischeif, two things all Ribbonblades love, and

Other Classes: Those who multiclass as a Ribbonblade typically also use a rogue or bard class. Other classes offer its own benefits when combined with the Ribbonblade.

Combat: Typically a Ribbonblade will study the situation for a few seconds before attacking the enemy.

Advancement: The Ribbonblade can multiclass with almost all classes, but are best suited to combine with bards, as their whimsy and skills blend well.

Ribbonblades in the World

My comrades found it comical I thought I can defend myself with my ribbons. When I saved them by turning my enemies into a different type of ribbon, they stopped laughing.
—Trelt the Truest Shredder

Typical Career The Ribbonblade is usually an adventurer, as they enjoy to wander and fight.

Daily Life: A Ribbonblade is usually liked by those he meets, and enjoys to perform by using his powers for tricks.

Notables: The first ever Ribbonblade was Trelt the Truest Shredder. Unlike most performers, he did not invent his own nickname. He single-handedly saved 29 different towns on seperate occasions, and each time they thought the same thing.... this man could destroy an army with a lone strip of cloth. And he wasn't a half-bad dancer.

Organizations: Ribbonblades are far and few between, with only one guild in existence, known as the Red Fold. These men will typically tie red ribbons over all the places on a man they can kill him with one slice. They also just happen to look cool. Unfortunately for other small groups of Ribbonblades, they seem less combat oriented, and can be confused as a circus.

NPC Reactions: NPCs react very well to most Ribbonblades, thinking that they are simple magicians or performers. Once they realize they arw warriors, they are either very grateful, or very dead.

Ribbonblade Lore

Characters with ranks in Knowledge (arcana) can research Ribbonblades to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.

Knowledge (Arcana)
DC Result
5 Ribbonblades use all cloth.
10 Ribbonblades can use sharp cloth
15 Ribbonblades are very adept fistfighters
20 The first Ribbonblade still lives
