Bullywug
A race of D&D frog people mostly overlooked by WotC in 3.x
Personality
Bullywugs are largely defined by their life cycle. They collectively lay their eggs in spawning pools and pick their young up once they have developed legs to teach them language and tool use. These bullywugs are referred to as "advanced bullywugs." Sometimes tadpoles slip through the cracks and become feral bullywugs. Since advanced bullywugs don't know which bullywug parented which tadpole, they lack the concept of family lines that most races have. Positions of power are inherited by the bullywug considered best at the position. Feral bullywugs are simply ruled by the strongest in the pond, who devours their predecessor when they grow old and weak. Both tend to be cooperative with others in their tribe; advanced bullywugs due to their emphasis on community and feral bullywugs due to a lack of ambition.
Physical Description
Bullywugs are humanoids with frog heads and webbed fingers and toes. Their tough, mottled skin ranges from gray to yellow to olive green. They range from 4 to 7 feet tall and weigh 100 to 300 pounds, with feral bullywugs leaning on the smaller end and advanced bullywugs on the larger end. Bullywugs do not generally wear clothing, but do wear armor; although feral bullywugs have minimal understanding of tool use, they can and usually do learn how to use armor and weapons. Advanced bullywugs, of course, have no more difficulty using tools than any other humanoids with thumbs do.
Relations
Advanced bullywugs have strained relations with their humanoid neighbors, mostly lizardfolk who thrive in the same marshy terrain as them. Feral bullywugs simply attack and eat other races, something that does not help the reputation of their more civilized cousins. Advanced and feral bullywugs generally do not get along, with the feral ones considering advanced ones food, and advanced ones considering feral ones a threat to themselves and others. More powerful swamp dwelling monsters like hags and black dragons eat bullywugs who they stumble across (or who stumble across them), not particularly caring about the advanced/feral dichotomy.
Alignment
Feral bullywugs tend towards chaotic evil, being violent and unsocialized swamp monsters. Advanced bullywugs are more varied in alignment, though they still tend towards chaos because Giant Frog.
Lands
Bullywugs live in dark, dank remote locations with easy access to water. They prefer warm and temperate wetlands, which they are well equipped to live, but some have been found in rainforests or damp caves. Feral bullywugs just overhunt wherever they are before moving on to do the same in the next place, while advanced bullywugs stake out positions and try to acquire food and resources more sustainably.
Religion
Most bullywugs worship Ramenos, the chaotic evil god of somnolence, intoxication and decay. His holy symbol is a frog, and his favored weapon the net. Clerics of Ramenos have access to the Chaos, Decay, Drugs, Evil, Sloth, and Stillness domains. Wastri (LN god of amphibians, bigotry and self-deception) is also a popular deity. Some bullywugs worship Chaos and/or Limbo because they feel a connection to slaadi.
Language
Bullywugs speak Common, albeit with some difficulty due to their long tongues. Especially intelligent ones learn the languages of their neighbors or outsiders they share a connection with.
Names
Bullywugs do not have family names, since every tadpole in a pond is considered the child of every adult. Some take the name of their tribe as a surname. Individual names are usually descriptive.
