==Geography==
 
In the Dreadmire world, the planet Silur has four great [[continents]], Baltica, Gondwana, Nuberia, and Laurentia; two continental fragments, Avalonia and Armorica; and eight [[microcontinents]], Albiga, Cardiff, Esox, Llanelli, Merovech, Rhyl, Sion and Tethys. Only one of these continents, Laurentia, has been officially described in a D&D publication, and in fact detailed information is available only for its southwestern end, known as South Laurentia.
 
 
South Laurentia is home to Dreadmire Swamp, a vast cypress swamp sandwiched between two sovereign nations, the Arable Republic and Thalass Emirate; the hub of a greater geographical region that includes the Agnathan Mountains, Mangrove Saltmarsh, Merganser Estuary, Ophel Highlands, Wildmarshes, Big Frog Lake, Lorgrave Mountains, Seamarsh, the Great Salt Swamp, the Paludial Sea, and the Panthallassic Ocean. Dreadmire was unique in that it was the first D&D book to ever place an entire campaign in a swamp setting. It also contained nearly 220,000 words, more than any other [[D20 System|d20]] book as of its printing date. With 264 [[monsters]], 124 [[spell (ritual)|spells]], 136 [[magic (fantasy)|magic]] items, 49 weapons, 18 classes, 19 [[deity|deities]], 37 factions, 47 mysteries, and 266 illustrations, Dreadmire had more content than any other 224-page [[Dungeons & Dragons|D&D]] book ever published.
