Getting access to a shorter-duration version of a 3rd level spell as an at-will 1st level invocation is a questionable idea to begin with. Second, I don't think a shorter-duration version of a VH spell makes for a H level invocation. Third, at such low levels, few encounters will likely have NPCS or enemies with immunity to mind-affecting effects, making this even better. And with 2 Will saves needed to resist the spell AND identify that someone is trying to magically coerce you, the deal only gets sweeter. Not to mention the fact that even if you fail and are identified, there's nothing stopping you from casting it again the next round. And again. Fourth, this invocation and the spell it replicates can easily completely derail games if not break them. It doesn't take a lot of creativity to use this invocation to more or less bypass encounters containing anyone vulnerable to this. As it stands, I would not allow this in my games.

Now with more reasonable restrictions and scope, this still makes for a very handy social utility invocation, or an emergency distraction, or any number of things. I approve, two Spanthumbs up!

Alright, my reply:
1st point: This is probably true, I should make it 1 round only.
2nd Point: It debatable, but it should be VH likely.
3rd: There is a 24 hours immunity clause, I don't think immunity factor in very much there.
4th: Keeping in mind the effect is a lot weaker than the Devil's Whisper invocation. We need to keep in mind the limits of suggestion since insidious suggestion has the almost same limit but a different delivery system. It is no more capable of breaking or derailing a campaign than other similarly leveled mind-affecting effects.

Overall I will make some changes.--Leziad (talk) 04:22, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

I dig the changes, it looks much more in-line with other least invocations, and I've changed my rating accordingly. Spanambula (talk) 04:42, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
