Nor Galad (4e Campaign Setting)/DM Introduction

The Realm of Nor Galad is a framework designed to combine mythos and universe building elements into a cohesive universe to create a more complete and in-depth setting for any literature or story concepts I would like to work on. Although the Nor Galad campaign realm is designed on an universal scale to accommodate for these mythos and story building elements, the actual campaign for d20 systems centers on the planet Sentia, an large, diverse planet where anything can happen. Sentia was designed specifically with the d20 RPG system in mind, allowing for a cohesive framework for my players. There is currently one other planet (dubbed "Fantasy World") that may be incorporated as a "sub-campaign" setting later on.

World Builder Introduction[edit]

What is Sentia?
The primary goal of the Sentian campaign world is to create a highly detailed world for d20 RPG systems that presents a wide variety of content with accuracy and consistency, ensuring that the needs of my players are met. It also serves me personally as a conduit for storytelling. Like most campaign-settings, the Sentian game-world is constantly evolving; as it is my personal campaign world, the forces pushing the world forward are my players, who canonically alter the game world through story arcs and campaigns. These are later chronicled as game-world history, altering the entirety of the game world. Some of the stories, such as the "Lios and Thorn" mini-series are not directly player related, but can still intertwine with the game world through ongoing story arcs such as the "Feuding Orcs", "Dark Crystal I: The Summoning.", "Dark Crystal II: The Maw", "Guardians" (new species) and "Dragon Rising" (Torrin). Each of these story arcs can be played and re-played, sometimes from many different perspectives that may contribute to the eventual outcome in the game-world.

Normally, creating an highly detailed world is...well, not entirely useful. Players don't care necessarily about every little detail—they are care about what is happening right then. But by creating a world with such a huge variety, I can set my players wherever I want in my little story playground and have everyone walk away with a great experience based on detailed suspension of disbelief.

From universe, to planets, to continents, to governments, provinces, and villages...with it I can create whatever story I need.
