Changes

These rare rods are actually made for battle, being both a usable weapon and capable of projecting a directed force field. Firstly a shield rod acts as a +1 [[SRD:Heavy Mace|Heavy Mace]]. As a move action, the wielder of the shield rod can project a shield of force around themselves, acting as a +1 [[SRD:Heavy Shield|heavy shield]], until retracted as a free action or until the wielder move more than 5 ft. This bonus applies against incorporeal touch attacks. While the shield is deployed the wielder cannot use the shield rod as a weapon, and while deployed gain all benefits that would be given to a shield (such as feats and class feature). A shield rod cannot be used to make shield bash. The wielder may retract the force shield as a free action.
