Just because someone lacks in book smarts should not mean they they are unable to undertake non academic tasks with increase capacity.

This option benefits both low skill classes and skill monkey types both while allowing for high skill classes to still be be the true skill masters.

I need to explore the ramifications of this further before giving it a favor, but I like the way this is going. Have you played with this? And how has this affected the game overall?

The more I think about this, the more it makes sense, and feels more in line with what skills are supposed to do for your PC.

Having playtested various workarounds for skill points on one end of the spectrum and having seen the stripped down-version of skills from 4th and 5th edition on the other end of the spectrum, I find this to be a satisfying fix for an old problem.
