I for one find this a much more attractive version of the arcane-flavored monk build than I have seen elsewhere before.

I've seen a blaster sorcerer pretend to be a monk before, and all this does is make a weaker version (the spell choices probably put that sorcerer at Rogue or Fighter-level) with lots of SRD Monk abilities that still don't matter because they're not improved and don't synergize well.

Classes that are essentially gestalts always lose points for me, and this is essentially that on account of slapping spellcasting onto a base monk. I don't like the lack of originality, but overall it's problem is a lack of effectiveness. A few exceptions aside (dimension door, fly, etc, all of which are given very late), the spell list frankly sucks and is pretty much replete with blaster spells like cone of cold that are way over-leveled given their actual amount of usefulness. In all, spellcasting doth not a good monk make. Or some shit like that.

BAM! STDOC Here! This class has been overhauled, including a new spell list and removal of many of the monk abilities (As well as the addition of a few that make more sense). ENJOY!

Homebrew Spell List[edit]

Hey! I noticed that you've made a new spellcasting class. If you'd like, I could set up a homebrew spell list for it. --Luigifan18 (talk) 14:54, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Version 3, July 8 2017[edit]

The new version of the Arcane Monk is up, now with 20% less sodium. The old monk abilities were swapped out with more gishy ones, and the spell list has been tweaked to have fewer blasting spells, and more utility.
