This class seems really cool conceptually. Anything that gives Ranger/Pally combos some love has my appreciation. It seems overpowered, but I don't play VH games, which is why I'm not offering a rating. I would love to see some discussion happen on this class, as I feel like it has a lot of merit, both conceptually and mechanically. Somehownotsingle (talk) 00:16, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

| I feel as though I'm rather on the reverse end of the spectrum as SomehowNotSingle. I feel like combining two of the classes that were more maligned by the SRD and calling the result a Very High level class is a bit premature. Does this really do anything a general paladin/ranger multiclass (because let's face it, not letting paladins multiclass is just dumb), other than give more numbers to pre-existing class features? Not really, by my estimation. Did it shrink the favored enemy pool to a more manageable number that didn't very according to minor distinctions? Maybe a little, with the Bane ability, but not enough to really call it fixed to me. Half of the abilities are just allowing levels of ranger, paladin, and faithsworn hunter to stack, which may be necessary but is not actually introducing anything novel.
So mechanically, I felt the class was extremely blase, and probably not even worthy of the Very High balance range in which it is currently placed. Conceptually, I also feel rather indifferent. Other than for the specific problem that is making the paladin/ranger combo slightly less bad (there's admittedly only so much that can be done with such a premise), it really has no opening. Only one possible use, nothing new to be excited about, and not meeting the stated Balance Level? This was a close shave from an Oppose. |
