The scaling abilities here do a nice job of capturing the opportunistic stabber theme. While they start out slowly enough, the higher abilities work out to be "death attack with triggering conditions" and hit the balance well enough.

The +1 ability can grant you an unending +2 to attack and damage (when paired with something like the decanter of endless kittens), but that sort of thing is sufficiently ridiculous that I don't mind ignoring or embracing it.

Bag of Rats

The +1 ability can be abused —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.90.104.57 (talkcontribs) at

It isn't as bad as you might think. It isn't stackable, so the +1 ability can basically read (with bag of rat abuse): take a standard action to gain a +2 morale bonus to attacks and damage for 1 minute. That is hardly overpowered. --Aarnott 15:17, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
It makes for quite a ridiculous (and creepy) mannerism though. "Every minute or so, the barbarian reaches into his pouch, you hear a sickening 'crunch', and he tosses a dead rat onto the floor. 'It helps me focus,' he says." --Foxwarrior 17:15, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
I would make a point to stay far away from that guy. --Luigifan18 (talk) 04:07, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
