- I hope you do, let me know what you think as it progresses. I assume you've read the books? Canlin Undrosh (talk) 16:09, 15 October 2021 (AKST)
- I'm at book four, just started, but I haven't read any spin-off. I've something to say:
- 1) Is this class meant to have only 11 levels? Base classes usually have 20, but it is not unheard of to have less. But, unless you absolutely want it to be a base class, consider making it a prestige class. It would fit: Kaladin was a fighter before becoming a windrunner. Also, flying, adhesion and gravitation are kinda powerful, so it being a prestige class would compensate for that. And, between you and me, making only ten levels is easier than twenty.
- 2) Ideals: They are nicely explained, but I'd consider making them as part of the lore of the class, instead of a class feature: if you want to keep them as such I'd suggest to add something to them; what do one gains from swearing them?
- 3) Spren Companion: I think you will incorporate it into other class features such as Shard blade, right? I'd suggest give it a progression similar to a familiar, or to explain if they can be interacted with by other, and how.
- 4) Stormlight: You will need to define what stormlight is, how it's acquired, how much stays inside a gem, how much is needed to be charged (maybe using duration, like one charge=x rounds). You could decide how much charges a windrunner could hold depending on its level. Otherwise, for the other features, you used a fairly solid method, so that's good.
- 5) Radiant Healing: good, I'd consider making it start with 1 and then go up with levels. I'd add a similar feature to healing hands of a paladin, as radiant knights can also heal others. Also, stormlight may be used to regenerate limbs in the books, so maybe you could add that, but don't overdo it: simplicity is best.
- And, Wisdom is fine, but would it be appropriate to use Constitution? What do you think? Maybe both, depending on the feature?
- Formatting will be needed, just to make it consistent with other classes.
- The rest is still work in progress, but I really like the idea and I'm looking forward to see it complete. I'll have to avoid spoilers from the fourth book, I'll fasten my reading ahah. --The bluez in the dungeon (talk) 08:49, 16 October 2021 (UTC)
- 1) Ive made it a base class simply because I will be using it in a fast paced rapid progression campaign. (I dont want to stop every four hours to level everyone up) If other DMs wish they can determine their own prereqs and choose to have it as a prestige.
- 2) I decided they should be a Class feature because it is required. I've added a little detail so its not "what do i get from swearing" and more "what am I missing out on if I don't".
- 3) I was thinking for the spren, they would be almost useless except for moving light objects (at later levels) companionship and knowledge checks, (just like in the books.)
- 4) I will define how much fits in a gem, and how long it will last. Ive already determined how many charges they can hold, and I intend to use that same calculation on all the other surgebinding classes I intend to build, changing the determining ability depending on the order of radiant. In response to defining what stomlight is, that's a lore item.
- 5) I don't think I'm going to change the way Radiant healing works much. Perhaps increased healing if they expend more charges? I specifically didnt include a "Heal Other" ability because windrunners do not have the surge of regrowth, only edgedancers and truthwatchers have that surge so, no that won't be included.
- Thanks for the input, you've given me a few things to think about. Canlin Undrosh (talk) 15:00, 16 October 2021 (AKST)
- Without going too much in depth: I like the way you changed the oaths, making them in a worthwhile feature, though not something too difficult to manage, so good for that! Sorry for saying "fasten", it occured to me that it doesn't mean "to accelerate", which was what I meant to say. --The bluez in the dungeon (talk) 14:08, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
