Spells?[edit]

Worship is all well and good, people in FR worship AO for all the good it does them. A note that he doesn't grant spells would be nice though Eiji, to bring it into line with the overpower definition. - Tarkisflux 19:48, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

I don't see a meaningful distinction between granting spells and "faithful clerics sometimes gain spells from faith in belief alone". I don't think it's a worthwhile dodge. Being a greater deity is already basically awesome. Zeus was a greater deity and he ran the pantheon and Gaea was a greater deity and she was the whole of the world. You can be the world or the father of a pantheon and top of the heap and still grant spells just by being a greater deity. Overpower is explicitly reserved in the rules for deities who don't need or care about worshipers, and generally rule over the pantheon in a way that goes above and beyond those things. In every bit of source material they are not being who interact with non-deities in any fashion other than promotion to the divine ranks. Overpowers are designed such that they are basically pantheon fluff, with no mechanical impact for non-divine PCs. That said, I'm not going to gripe about it anymore, I just don't see the point. - Tarkisflux 20:29, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
