1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.
This violin bow was constructed with violence in mind. It is forged from mithral and uses thin mithral wire to create the strings. The end is sharpened as a blade, and the bow has some flexibility that allows it to be used in a manner similar to a rapier. This instrument functions as masterwork tool when using Perform (strings) to play instruments such as a violin, cello, viola, etc. granting a +2 circumstance bonus to such perform checks. When used as a weapon this is essentially a rapier. If the wielder has at least 1 rank of Perform (strings) or similar Perform skill, then they may treat the Violin Bow Blade as a Rapier for purposes of proficiency.
The thin metal wires instead of horse hair produce a unique, keening tone very unlike that of a normal violin. Quiet and high-pitched wailing sounds that slide together easily and never form a positive sounding major melody, but seem locked in a minor key.
