[[Summary::You hurl a mass of divine fire at your enemy that expands into an explosive burst.]] The scope, blast radius, and point of detonation may be freely controlled by you within the spell's established limits, but the resulting explosion must be spherical. Against most creatures, the abolishing flames act exactly like a ''[[SRD:Fireball|fireball]]'' spell that deals 1d6 [[SRD:Fire Effect|fire]] damage per [[SRD:Caster Level|caster level]] (max 20d6).

The spell deals half again as much damage to [[SRD:Undead Type|undead]] or [[SRD:Neutral Evil|evil]] [[SRD:Outsider Type|outsiders]], and the damage dealt stems from a divine source that is not reduced by any sort of [[SRD:Resistance to Energy|resistance]] or immunity to [[SRD:Fire Effect|fire]]. On targets such as these, the abolishing flames continue to burn for 1 [[SRD:Round|round]]/2 caster levels and can only be smothered by ''[[SRD:Quench|quench]]'', a successful [[SRD:Dispel Magic|dispel]], or a ''[[SRD:Break Enchantment|break enchantment]]'' or ''[[SRD:Greater Restoration|greater restoration]]'' spell. During each round that the abolishing flames burn, a creature on fire is dealt 1d6 damage per 2 [[SRD:Caster Level|caster levels]] (max 10d6). This damage allows no [[SRD:Saving Throw#Reflex|Reflex]] save.

When creatures with the [[SRD:Evil Subtype|Evil]] subtype are hit with the blast, the abolishing flames not only scorch their bodies, but burn portions of their very soul away. In addition to being dealt fire damage, they also incur 1d4 [[SRD:Negative Level|negative levels]] ([[SRD:Fortitude|Fortitude]] half), with one [[SRD:Negative Level|negative level]] for every [[SRD:Round|round]] that they burn afterwards ([[SRD:Saving Throw#Fortitude|Fortitude]] negates).
