Upon casting this spell you imbue one or more object within range with animating energy, turning then into [[SRD:Animated Object|animated objects]]. The objects obey your last mental commands and you can give them new command for as long as you stay on the same plane, distance be damned. Objects seem to instinctively 'know' their function as object and will always perform them properly if ordered (so an animated clock can be commanded to rewind, an animated broom to clean and an animated pots and assorted cooking-ware to cook). 

An animated object can be of any nonmagical material. You may animate one Small or smaller object or an equivalent number of larger objects per caster level. A Medium object counts as two Small or smaller objects, a Large object as four, a Huge object as eight, a Gargantuan object as sixteen, and a Colossal object as thirty-two.

When you cast this spell you may make the objects it animate completely unable to attack, instead they can only perform the intended function of their base object, in which case this spell duration's is permanent.

This spell cannot animate objects carried or worn by a creature.

By supplying a black onyx as a focus you can use negative energy to animate object, in which case this spell is necromancy.
