This eyepatch has a frightening visage on the inside of it's cover. When donned, it grants the wearer 5 negative levels with no benefit. That is, -5 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, ability checks; loss of 25 hit points; and -5 to effective level (for determining the power, duration, DC, and other details of spells or special abilities). In addition, a spellcaster loses five spells or spell slots from the highest spell level castable. It can be removed, but for those who persist, the benefits are great. After 5 consecutive days of wearing the eyepatch, it has completed building up a charge.

When removed, the user surges with power for the next 5 minutes, his normal levels returning and gaining 5 positive levels instead. That is, +5 bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, ability checks; 25 temporary hit points; and +5 to effective level (for determining the power, duration, DC, and other details of spells or special abilities).

If removed prematurely the energy is not lost completely, but 1 day is subtracted from its total for every day it is not worn, until it reaches zero, starting with -1 for taking it off.
