1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.
A strange artifice indeed, the shotbow is pretty much a shotgun crossbow. Using strange and unusual mechanisms, the shotbow is capable of shooting many bolts at once. Creatures shot by a creature wielding a shotbow within 10 feet take 2 hits from the attack instead of one (using the same attack roll, except the second attack has a -2 penalty), damage granted by sneak attacks and other precision damage never apply to the second hit.
A shotbow consumes 3 bolts per shot*, plus an additional bolt per size category it is higher than medium. A shotbow only has enough ammunition to fire once before requiring to be reloaded. Reloading a shotbow is a full-round action. Shotbow can accommodate repeater modules making firing and reloading the weapon much more efficient.
Shotbow are always masterwork (included in the price above).
* The bolt must be of the same type as the attack count as a single hit, thus 3 bolts of slaying would not cause 3 save vs death.
