It was but with a twitch of the finger, that the witch turned the knight into a badger.
Upon completing this spell, the caster fires a small purple ray from her finger, the creature struck by the ray has its body contort and morphs under its magic. A creature struck by the ray takes 1d6 damage per caster level (maximum of 20d6) and become staggered for 1 round. A successful Fortitude save negates the staggering effect.
A creature reduced to 0 hit points or lower by this spell does not dies, it instead transform into a small or smaller animal (or vermin) of no more than 1 HD (such as a dog, lizard, monkey, or toad) or into a tiny animated object, the form taken is chosen when the spell is cast. The subject takes on all the statistics and special abilities of an average member of the new form in place of its own, it however retains its own mind (alignment, mental ability scores, will save, languages and such) but otherwise loses all of its abilities. All of the affected creature's equipment falls at its feet as it transforms.
A break enchantment or remove curse spell immediately ends the effect and returns the creature to its true form, otherwise the effect may be dispelled as normal. The creature returns to its original form with a number of hit points equal to its hit dice. If the affected creature is slain or broken (in the case of an object) while transformed it does not revert to its original form. After 24 consecutive hours in this form, the affected creature must make a Will save or become a regular animal or object of its kind. The curse may still be removed allowing them to return to their former self.
Incorporeal or gaseous creatures are immune to baleful polymorph, and a creature with the shapechanger subtype (such as a lycanthrope or a doppelganger) can revert to its natural form as a standard action (which ends the spell’s effect).
